A spa holiday at The Chateau Spa & Wellness Resort.

Holiday? Such a nice word to utter every now and then but will I ever get a holiday? I mean a real perfect holiday where you only have three words in your mind – relax, relax and relax! With work demands and crazy unforgiving deadlines, the fastest and easiest way to a holiday is an hour or so spent at a spa. At least that is how I felt after spending two hours succumbing to a gentle-yet-fulfilling full body massage at the hands of a skilled and whispering therapist.

“Abel, be my special guest for our spa. Can you come tomorrow?” It was like music to my ears when a friend of mine offered me to try the La Sante Signature massage which is described as “A unique combination of Swedish and Shiatsu massages to provide deep tissue and muscle tension relief.” Just what I needed, why not, bring it on, I say.

So that humid, sticky afternoon, I made my way to The Chateau Spa & Wellness Resort. Even after a number of visits there, I have never failed to be mesmerised again and again by this beautiful resort surroundings and feel. For the sake of those who have no clue of what I’m talking about, The Chateau Spa & Wellness Resort is an idyllic haven of well-being boasting expansive views, stretching into the sloping hills and beyond. Nestled amidst a lush tropical rainforest and located only 45 minutes away from Kuala Lumpur, it is inspired by an 18th century “Haut Koenigsbourg” castle in Alsace, France.

I was welcomed warmly by the lovely team at La Sante Wellness Spa. They said the spa is the first European concept spa in Asia, offering a complete unique experience to discerning guests who wish to embark on a journey toward wellness. A sanctuary of healing and wellness, La Santé combines European touches with warm Asian hospitality.

A moment later, my therapist welcomed me and led me to my room. She softly and in a very friendly manner explained the ingredients of my massage oil and the whole process of La Sante Signature massage.

Not long after that, it is all clothes off and under the sheet I go, well…exposed for maximum effect. Yes, it is a bit of a task to appear nonchalant as a stranger pounds your near naked body but try because the experience is well worth this infringement.

La Sante Signature massage is a full body massage. When I said it was a full body massage, I meant every word of it. Safe for one or two spots, everything else get massaged. Because the therapist used her palm the massage is well spread yet not painful. The thumb and stimulating pressure were especially welcomed on my legs, shoulders and the back of my neck. Even the not-so-taut stomach got palmed and as a result, I felt that flab got a bit thinner. Psychological effect or real result, I don’t really care. This is a holiday; didn’t I say so earlier?

My near two hours treatment went too fast as I was in deep pleasure and inside this air-conditioned, sleep-inducing room, my mind is blank, and my body is blissfully unwound. Then, it was over and after a real quick warm rainforest shower; I was offered a refreshing drink to unwind.

This is a good spa, and definitely a wonderful resort. And if you ever wanted great service and try the deep kneads of therapeutic massage after a tiring or stressful day…this is your place. I had to leave this brief holiday of mine behind, but I know there will always be next time… for another episode of my version of great instant holiday. - A
